MoU inked to boost employability and entrepreneurship skills among youth

The Directorate of Craftsmen Training under Skill, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship (SLEE) Department, Government of Manipur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wadhwani Foundation, through its Skills Development Network (SDN), to boost employability and entrepreneurship skills among the State’s youth- through digital platforms, faculty mentoring, and industry-aligned programmes.

The signing ceremony was held at the Manipur Secretariat North Block, Babupara, Imphal.

The agreement will provide Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) trainees across Manipur with access to world-class digital learning platforms, entrepreneurial mindset training, and employability programmes tailored to industry needs.

The MoU was signed by Yaiphaba Longjam, Joint Director, Directorate of Craftsmen Training, in the presence of N Bandana Devi, Secretary (Skill, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship), and senior officials.

Representing the Wadhwani Foundation, Sunil Dahiya, Executive Vice President of Wadhwani Skilling, took part in the signing.

Notably, the Directorate of Craftsmen Training under Skill, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship has 11 ITI centres with annual average pass-out of about 800 trainees in different trades.

The agreement will provide access to world-class digital learning platforms, entrepreneurial mindset training, and employability programs tailored to industry needs.

Faculty members will benefit from advanced capacity-building support, while final-year trainees will receive focused guidance on interview preparation, workplace readiness, and career progression.

Echoing the significance of the MoU, Sunil Dahiya expressed that their foundation’s mission is to catalyse job creation and improve livelihoods through skilling and entrepreneurship in helping unlock the potential of its youth workforce and further align with the national vision under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) .

The partnership marked a significant milestone in advancing the State’s vision of building a strong skilling and entrepreneurship ecosystem, aligned with national priorities under the MSDE .
