We envision a future with a global network of innovation centers that collaborate to advance commercially focused research and innovation, launching hundreds of new successful startups globally in various emerging technological areas.

Here’s a short video on our Innovation & Research initiative.

Wadhwani Innovation Network (WIN)

At the forefront of our efforts is the Wadhwani Innovation Network (WIN), a transformative initiative designed to fuel innovation and Academic Research. We’re building a global network of innovation centers of excellence (WIN-COE), turning groundbreaking academic research into real-world solutions.

Through strategic partnerships with AICTE and top-tier academic institutes such as IITs, IISc and C-CAMP, WIN aims to drive interdisciplinary research and innovation in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence, including Generative AI and other advanced AI, Semiconductor Technology, Quantum Computing, Bioengineering, Healthtech, Biotechnology and Synthetic Biology.

Apart from crucial funding and mentorship to interdisciplinary research projects, this transformative initiative is set to revolutionize academic innovation and fast-track the commercialization of multidisciplinary academic research into influential products, processes, services and startups.

Wadhwani Electronic Labs (WEL),
IIT Bombay

Since its inception in 2001, this electronics laboratory has enabled high-potential B.Tech and M.Tech students to build impactful innovations in electronic systems.
The identity of WEL has evolved from being solely a lab for conducting curricular lab courses to being a hub for various electronics activities, with state-of-the-art facilities for projects and product development.

More than 1,700 students use WEL each year for laboratory courses and projects. Content developed at WEL has also reached more than 400 colleges across India, benefiting more than 2,500 teachers and students through outreach. Here is a quick view of WEL’s impact and reach since 2001:

  • 20,000+ student beneficiaries
  • 3,000+ hardware kits manufactured
  • 250+ research assistants and staff
  • 12+ courses

Wadhwani AI

The Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence was co-founded by Dr. Romesh and Sunil Wadhwani to build and deploy AI solutions that benefit underserved populations in developing countries, which it has actively been doing since mid-2021.

It partners with government bodies and global nonprofits to ensure that innovations improve the lives of those who need them the most.
