The Wadhwani Foundation and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of the Philippines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at DOST’s Central Office in Taguig City on November 14, 2024. This partnership formalized the day before the EmpowerEd 3.0 Summit, highlights a joint commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and digital transformation nationwide.

The MOU signing set the stage for the EmpowerEd 3.0 Summit on November 15, 2024, at the Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila. Themed “Educate, Engage, Elevate the Next Gen of Entrepreneurs,” the summit convened educators, policymakers, entrepreneurs and innovators to discuss new initiatives and celebrate the milestones in entrepreneurship education. Wadhwani Foundation’s latest program, Wadhwani Ignite, was launched at the event to support young entrepreneurs with cutting-edge AI tools and resources.

Together, we can cultivate an environment where Filipino entrepreneurs are equipped to lead the nation’s future growth.”

Strategic Areas of Collaboration

The MOU outlined several key areas where DOST and Wadhwani Foundation will work together to support entrepreneurial growth and technological advancement:

  1. Entrepreneurship Capability Building: The collaboration will offer workshops, mentorship and capacity-building programs to empower aspiring and existing entrepreneurs in the Philippines.
  2. Digital Transformation for Smart Cities: The partnership will support DOST’s Smart and Sustainable Cities program, creating digital solutions and innovation hubs to benefit urban communities nationwide.
  3. Enhancement of Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Programs: The MOU also aims to improve DOST’s TBI program, providing training and resources for TBI managers and fostering student engagement in entrepreneurial projects.

These initiatives are powered by Genie AI, Wadhwani Foundation’s latest AI-driven platform, launched at EmpowerEd 3.0. Wadhwani Ignite provides young entrepreneurs with a comprehensive suite of tools, including learning modules, mentorship resources and networking opportunities.
