Andhra Pradesh government signs MoU with Wadhwani Foundation to boost AI adoption

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh govt signed an MoU with Wadhwani Foundation (WF) on Friday to accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), generative AI, and drones. The move is also aimed at reskilling various govt systems across the state.

The pro-bono joint venture between the state govt and Wadhwani centre for govt digital transformation (WGDT) aims to leverage the centre’s AI-enabled online courses and learning resources, besides making AI and emerging technology education accessible to govt employees at all levels. As part of the initiative, WGDT will conduct an AI bootcamp through its AI champions and AI enablers programs, equipping govt officials with the necessary expertise to harness AI for the transformation of governance.

Katamaneni Bhaskar, IT dept principal secretary, and Prakash Kumar, CEO of WGDT, signed the MoU. Bhaskar said AP is committed to leveraging emerging technologies to improve public efficiency. “The collaboration with WF will enable us to build AI-driven policy frameworks, enhance service delivery, and create a future-ready workforce equipped with advanced digital skills,” he said. Prakash Kumar said the initiative will help in reskilling govt employees and support AP’s efforts to become the leading state in the country in AI adoption for public service excellence.
