Govt. of India announced on 25.01.2020 that Romesh Wadhwani, Founder and Chairman, Wadhwani Foundation and Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Symphony AI is being conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award 2020.
This is a moment of pride for the Foundation and the Symphony AI group as Padma Shri is one India’s highest civilian awards, and recognises Romesh as a business leader of eminence with a yeoman service to the nation.
Romesh’s distinguished efforts in business and his philanthropic journey has been appreciated at the highest levels. Speaking at the Golden Jubilee Convocation of IIT Bombay (2019), Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi had words of praise for Romesh’s untiring and focused efforts towards fulfilling the Foundation’s mission of high quality job creation. “Dr. Wadhwani has devoted his life to connecting technology with social welfare needs. Through Wadhwani Foundation, he has empowered the youth of India by facilitating employment generation and creating a culture of innovation and enterprise”, the Hon’ble Prime Minister said.
The award will be conferred by the Hon’ble President of India at a ceremonial function held at Rashtrapati Bhawan around March/April 2020.
